I oppose fracking for a multitude of reasons
It's not just the danger of permanent damage to our water supply
It's not just the fugitive methane emissions
It's not just the invasion of productive farmland
It's not just the stupidity inherent in following a risky path for short term gain.
It's mainly that gas is not a suitable replacement for coal
It's mainly that we need to live within our respective carbon emission budgets or face a certain future catastrophe.
It's mainly that our children and grandchildren deserve to be left a better world .
It's mainly that there are real and present alternatives.
It's mainly that we are collectively smarter than our current behaviour suggests
