Community Update #19 - 16 August 2017
The independent Scientific Inquiry into Hydraulic Fracturing of Onshore Unconventional Reservoirs in the Northern Territory (the Inquiry) will hold community forums in regional and remote communities starting next week.
The schedule for the regional and remote community forums is:
Tuesday 22 August 2017: Mataranka 5.00pm – 7.00pm (Roper Gulf Regional Council)
Wednesday 23 August 2017: Daly Waters 10.00am – 12.00pm (Daly Waters Pub)
Wednesday 23 August 2017: Borroloola 3.30pm – 5.30pm (Savannah Way Motel Restaurant)
Thursday 24 August 2017: Ngukurr 10.30am – 12.30pm (Roper Gulf Regional Council Office)
Friday 25 August 2017: Maningrida 11.00am – 1.00pm (Maningrida Town Hall)
The Inquiry will also visit Hermannsburg, Yuendumu, Elliott, Timber Creek, Nhulunbuy, Yirrkala andGapuwiyak between 28 August and 1 September 2017. Details for these locations will be advised soon.
The community forums provide an opportunity for people to engage directly with the Inquiry Panel. The forums will also include a short presentation and a discussion session on the Inquiry's Interim Report released last month.
Individuals, organisations and other stakeholders are welcome to attend. Registration for the community forums is not required.
The Inquiry held public hearings and community meetings in Darwin, Alice Springs, Katherine and Tennant Creek between 31 July and 12 August 2017. Video recordings and transcripts of the presentations made at the public hearings will be available to view on the Inquiry's website soon.
