To The Commissioner,

I am concerned about the risks of hydraulic fracturing and unconventional gas harvesting.

I believe there are risks associated with water contamination that can not be adequately mitigated. I believe the safest option is not to endorse hydraulic fracturing.

I believe the Northern Territory does not have adequate resources dedicated to monitor environmental impacts of existing developments, let alone new developments.

I believe the risks associated with development of shale gas extraction will have irreversible negative effects on country that is otherwise beautiful and almost pristine.

I believe the negative effects of fracking could include:

• ground water contamination
• unsustainable use of water in the fracking process
• noise pollution at extraction sites
• visual pollution at extraction sites
• tourism could be negatively effected by reduced water in rivers from over-extraction from ground water, with flow on detrimental consequences to flora and fauna including rare and endangered species such as saw fish, water monitors, frill necked lizards and other natural wonders.
