To The Commissioner,
As an average NT resident, Fracking has not been high on my list of things to worry about. Until, the current CLP government has approved exploration on my next door neighbours property. There appears to be a huge amount of resistance to Fracking in the general population. From the little I have read, it appears that there has not been sufficient research into the long term ramification’s of Fracking in general, and in particular in the Katherine Region where we depend on the underground aquifers.
The north of Australia has been touted as the next “food bowl of Australia”. I would urge the government to “represent” the people and halt any further development in respect of Fracking until we can be 100% sure that the one resource that humanity cannot live without (water), will not be contaminated.
